Anyone who's previous followed my earlier Reviews knows that DITA also loves a good 'HAMMER' Flick. My previous ones were 'BRIDES OF DRACULA' and 'THE MUMMY's SHROUD' and more, as well as more to come in the future! What can I say? DITA's a Big, 'HAMMER-Film Fan ,especially of;'THE LEGEND OF THE SEVEN GOLDEN VAMPIRES!!!'

Any-Boo, It has of course, Hammer's Signature Lighting showing up in various scenes throughout this very Asian driven and influenced Horror Flick. Look for the glamorous purple lighting streaming thru back lit caverns and such. DITA seems to recall an autumnal orange here and there as well. The movie starts out with an Asian Dude/High Priest making a journey all the way from China to Count Dracula's rather spacious tomb, complete with ascending staircase tightly designed against the wall just waiting for a dramatic horror movie exit by Dracula himself. Who else did you expect to be making a dramatic exit up that spacious staircase...........Suzanne Wong from 'Home & Garden' Channel's 'HOUSE HUNTERS'? LOL! Okay, so I crack myself up?

Oh well, back to the movie. The Asian guy asks Dracula to please come back to China w/him to his village called 'Ping Kuei' to resurrect the 7 Golden Vampires. You know, so they can terrorize the Villagers, rape and pillage, kill and maim, the usual! Dracula agrees to do it but wants to go incognito and of course takes over the Asian Dudes body as a Host. By the way lot's of eerie colored smoke is used in the transformation. And..........he's off! First dramatically and quickly to the coffin, NO, he changes his mind. Now,he gets to make his dramatic exit up the cascading stairs afford mentioned. Better call Ms. Wong. It's safe,,,,,,to redecorate. Or bring in potential new Buyers to the Crypt.

Drac goes to China to the Village and lays low in the derelict Temple of the Golden Vampires. Now, in come the other players which are as follows; A wealthy Countess named Vanessa (complete with heaving bosom and apparently as we find out later; no fighting skills. What do you expect, heaving takes up a lot of her time, as does looking pretty w/dirt smudges and her full time art of sashaying.) The Infamous Professor Van Helsing who at one point protests; I'm Not Famous! Professor Van Helsing's son (Crackers, he's cute too!).
Mai Kwei (The Asian Expedition Guide and his Six Sword-wielding Marshal Artists Brothers. The sister is along and fights as well. Cuz she's docile but not afraid to break a nail unlike the Coozy Countess.

They of course go on an Expedition to the Ancient town were the 7th Vampire was killed by villagers, way back when. The expedition by the way is funded by the Wealthy Countess, of course, my silly little spider bites! She's bored, rich, stacked and ;Hint, Hint, likes her stakes well done! The group is attacked endlessly. Hence fourth the beautifully choreographed martial arts scenes. DITA's favorite part!!

I don't want to reveal too much so I'll just say this movie could have been called 'Dr. Van Helsing VS. Dracula' and oooh it's a exciting fight to the finish! One last thing, for some reason when the Asian girls are attacked by the oatmeal-mask-looking vampires, their tops are always cut open exposing their bare breasts ?? Oh, right, it's a horror flick, it's to be expected to bare skin. I believe it's in the Horror Movie Handbook. I guess boobs can be scary to SOME people! Not I says DITA!

The special effects budget on this pic must have been tight because they are just...... well , you'll see. DITA urges you to see this fun flick with a friend on a cold dark night with a blanket built for two..........in the dark!

BTW; This was their first pairing between Asia and England on a Movie by the way, readers.

This movie is a fun, well paced Horror-Kung-Fu romp with plenty of Martial Arts used throughout as well as plenty of blood and carnage! Just the way DITA likes her Pilates Class, ummm, I mean my Horror Movies! Ahem!
