Alan Bean was on the
Apollo 12 mission in 1969 and was one of 12 men to have walked on the Moon. I
met Alan Bean twice and interviewed him both times within a year at two
different Space conventions. He is also nowadays a painted, and his art deals
mostly with Space and Moon missions and the like. He is a fun guy and loves to
talk to fans. I must say, however, he is a pain in the butt when it comes to a
gratuitous signature. Alan was very hesitant the first time I interview him to
sign my items , as I was using it for promoting him in a column I was writing.
The second time, it seemed Alan was only all about the cash for his autograph
which is very sad for me to see. He wanted me to mention his art web site in the
magazine I write for, yet would not sign my poster in exchange for this mention,
he wanted me to pay him $80. I do have many signed items the first time he and I
met, yet, If I am going to promote someone , the least they could do is
autograph something for me. Besides, even though this great man walked on the
Moon, his autograph prices were the same....out of this world, ha ha .
